THERE’S ALWAYS SOMETHING NEW

A photo of Effurun Market on a market day

I was sitted inside a KEKE NA PEP on my way to the Town Hall to get my Voter’s Card. I didnot know that this Wednesday was Effurun Market Day. This meant I would be stuck in the traffic for a little while.

The Keke crawled along with the traffic like a snail and I was subjected to horrid smells of rotten tomatoes, spoilt goods, dust and all other types of unpleasant odours. Thank goodness the people sitting beside me smelt decent.

I was sweating profusely inside the Keke, even though the time was just a few minutes past 10. I was in the process of using my palm to wipe my forehead when I came across clothes displayed on mannequins, hangers, wheelbarrows and bend-down select mats Some of the clothes were really beautiful and I fantasized wearing them to various occasions. That was how attractive some of the clothes were to me. There were bags, slippers, sandals, heels, wigs, bras and sexy pants and other goods sprawled up and about in different stalls and stores. I kept imagining what I would look like in some.

During my imagination process, I had a thought, "THERE’S ALWAYS SOMETHING NEW" be it Aba-made, okrika, turkey wears, fashion trends, styles, etc. The old clothes would be revamped and sold or something new will be produced and the beautiful part is, the cycle never ends.

This got me thinking about my relationship. I love my man so much and I would opt for his love and attention any time, any day but I figured I had a crush or two on other people. This scared me.

The thing is, growing up, I had the mindset that if you loved a person and you both got into a relationship/courtship/marriage, it was for life. I mean, why would you have a crush on someone else? Well, adulthood taught me otherwise but I am grateful for mature friends and people who were able to educate me about certain aspects of life.

Truth be told, emotions can come in the way and blind our eyes from seeing great things ahead of us. The important thing is realizing what you want and what works for you. It’s also important you know what you want in a partner, because like clothes, there will always be a new design, trend or fashion that will surpass what you have but they are fleeting desires that will also go out of trend.

My advice, stick to your classic cloth, it can always be revamped, styled and polished. The other cloth may not even be your size or may not suit your body type. Don’t throw quality materials away for cheap stuff that may not stand the test of time.

Author’s P.S:- I hope this article was helpful. Keep glowing in that material 🌟.
