THE EMPEROR

A short encounter

I stood watching as the emperor addressed the court from the shaded corner of his throne quarters in the colosseum. The sun burned brightly as it’s rays filled the earth with heat. The Emperor raised his hands indicating the start of the games.

The gold of his hands shone like the sun and his hair was well oiled into the scalp. His sandals were embroidered in intricate designs and his robe-like attire was a rich purple and gold; my mother said it was called a toga picta and tunica palmata. His blues eyes and light brown wavy hair made him resemble the gods. His wife sat beside him with a daring look on her face; mother said she was a brave queen.

The teeth of the iron dungeons opened and lions ran out into the open space. The prisoners chained in the middle of the field were in the slaughter house.
