PROMISES AND HOPES
Everytime someone promises to assist you, be it financially, mentally, spiritually or otherwise, you begin to nuture hopes. Regardless of whatsoever help or assistance, it is a promise.
I once had a love interest who made me feel comfortable around him. He even noticed that my phone was bad and promised to get me a new one. I did not ask him for help, he chose to help and made the promise. He also had high hopes for himself and I believed in his plans so much because things were going well for him.
Then came the day he was supposed to give me the phone. He told me he gave it to his younger brother because I deserved a better phone than the ITEL he had gotten for me originally. I felt so special and my hopes skyrocketed. He gave me another date to expect my new phone but the amazing part was I never got the phone because his numbers became unavailable and I was a clown to have believed in the castles he built in the air.
Elections in Nigeria are fast approaching and various candidates and political parties are selling hopes to citizens through their manifestoes. The citizens, especially youths are actively involved in the upcoming elections through public sensitization and other forms of awareness because of the nation’s experience with #END SARS 2020# on 8th - 20th October, 2020.
It was a blood bath that witnessed the death of youths who were ostensibly murdered by a nation because the youths, through a peaceful protest were demanding the end of police brutality and other forms of injustice.
Those in power who claimed nobody was murdered are now gallivanting about like wolf in sheep’s clothing, campaigning for positions to further stack their hidden slush funds, all the while chanting manifestos that they may also deny making.
We will not be blind to your antics, neither shall we play as fools again. We want a leader that will lead us well, a Governor that will govern us well and representatives who can truly represent us because they see us.
The youths have opened their eyes and for a better country, we stand. For the sake of our future generations, for the sake of our own grey hair, we will fight in high hopes for a better Nigeria!
Choose wisely. Do not fight with your mouth or on social media, use your card to cast your vote!
