INSPIRATION
An observation
Staring at the keyboard, I wondered what to write. There were lots of ideas in my head but I couldn’t find a way to pen them down. I looked at the yellowish-brown ceiling hoping for inspirations but none was forthcoming. I had to think of a way to pen down the countless ideas in my head before they vanished but I had no frame.
I looked through my window, down the street a couple of teens were playing football. I do not fancy ball so I look past them and find a teary eyed toodler holding her mother's wrapper while the mother was selling meat to a customer. Somewhere in the corner, two little boys were playing with cover-of-beers. In a pavement, a mother sat on a wooden stool breastfeeding her baby while another toodler sat on the bare pavement wearing a wet green knicker that looked brown with dust around the corners eating a sandy pineapple.
A lady sat on a plastic chair holding attachment while another lady was behind her, matting her thick long black hair. A mechanic was repairing a black Audi A4 parked on the road. A bike man and a woman were arguing while a shirtless boy and his friends ran with tyres, somewhere beside the road, a bush-rabbit ran into the bush.
I was wondering what story to tell about all the activities going on around me when I felt a gust of wind on my back. Loud music flooded my room from my neighbour's apartment. NEPA had just brought the light.
I stood up from the purple plastic chair I had been sitting on and stretched the bones in my body. The sun pervaded the linoleum floor in my room. I walked over to my partitioned kitchen, heated-up my oil rice and beans before carrying the pot and a bottle of room-temperature coca-cola from my refrigerator inside the room.
I sat on the floor with my legs spread apart, I flipped the cover of my cola by placing the cap on the edge of a small wooden stool beside my bed and smacked it off. The silvery gas filled the top of the bottle as I tentatively took a sip and relished the sweet taste before I dug in to the steamy rice. After eating, I sat on the same spot with my back behind my bed like a python that just swallowed a rat.
I looked at the wall clock as it read 4:00 o'clock. I needed to sleep. The inspiration to write had gone. I found the stamina to stand up and return the pot and empty bottle to the kitchen. I checked my refrigerator for cold pure-water but there was none so I gulped down the cool water.
After drinking the water, I shut down my Acer laptop before jumping on my bed with my phone in hand. I switched on my data before heading to Twitter to read some juicy gossip.
I scrolled through a lot of mini blogs reading stories, marital advices and gossip. After a while, I replied some messages on Whatsapp and logged on to my Instagram. I got bored and opened my MX-player where I binge-watched Mouse, a K-drama.
After a while, I felt groggy so I plugged my phone to it's charger in a socket beside the bed and let the fan blow me away to the land of sleep.
