How to make social media your business portfolio.
It is your online CV.
Social Media is a great avenue to build your business portfolio and a funnel to convert sales. Sometimes, it may be hard to generate sales because you may not be using strong SEO or trendy sounds (especially on Instagram and TikTok) which can boost your social media presence.
In this blog, we will be discussing how social media can create awareness for your brand.
My journey with Oriflame.
If not for Oriflame, I wouldn't have known about business and how to do some of the things I do now. Through Oriflame, I learnt that your online presence is your business portfolio/CV that can build trust for your brand or put you in your customers view via the algorithm.
One day during an Oriflame meeting with my team, one of the bosses told us a story. Let her name be Violet for the sake of the blog.
Boss Violet used to work in an eye clinic eight years ago before she started working with Oriflame. She used to make videos and post on Facebook. Sometimes, she would make the videos educational and other times, she would make them entertaining or informative so whoever would watch the video would get value for their time.
When she made these videos at the time, she would sometimes spike the viewers interest which would make them send her a dm or ask her questions in the comments section. This was her effort online but it didn't compare to what she did offline.
Years later after she had stopped working with the clinic, someone sent her a dm to ask about how she could go about a particular matter. She told the lady she was no longer with them but gave her a number to contact.
I shared this story to let you know that your efforts are not in vain. People watch you when you continuously show up and it's the same with Medium.
How I made sales online through sharing a client's testimony.
I had a client who had boils on her face. I sold her tender care balm and in less than two weeks, her face was back to normal. I made a six second video and posted it on TikTok and IG and someone sent me a dm on Instagram to request for two pots of the balm.
Would I have sold those two pots if I hadn't talked about it or made a video about it online? Probably.
Social Media is a platform just like Upwork and Fiverr. You just need to keep showing up daily or twice weekly and put yourself in a position where your potential clients can find you.
Tips to make social media your portfolio.
There may be many tips but these are the ones I know and I have used:
- Use trendy sounds to make videos for your business.
- You don't have to have the best camera but make sure to create interesting and engaging content.
- Your brand is your SEO. Talk about it and use it in the captions and tags.
- Do your best to show up daily.
- Have in depth knowledge about your goods and/or services because to sell, you have to first win their confidence and trust.
- Be your number one customer.
I hope these tips help as you build your business. Remember, the first three years of business may not necessarily give you huge profit but it is a time to build so that when your clients come, they find a good garden. You also need to read books to prepare you and here are few suggestions.
