GOD AND PATRIOTISM
During times of war, people fight for different reasons and others want to live.
Cuts and burns, cuts and burns
Cries the little monster
In a bid to escape imminent death
At the hands of the blood hungry gun
Who has successfully erased his entire family
From the face of the earth.
“For God and patriotism, for God and patriotism",
Chants a dedicated soldier
As he pulls his trigger in patriotic style
In eager enthusiasm to cleanse the land
From non-believers and infidels.
Boom and silence, boom and silence,
The little boy sleeps forever
In a pool of his own blood.
The soldier walks away eager to please God
Content with his good fight of faith.

I originally wrote this poem in 2020 in remembrance of Boko Haram and it’s adverse effects in some parts of my country and also what I have heard about Afghanistan and watched in movies.
Thanks for reading and clapping.
