FROM AFAR

Today, I took a walk, it wasn’t a very long walk but it was something I really needed to do. As I walked, I thought about certain things in my life; some I was grateful for, others, I was passive about and the rest, I either regretted or cared less about them. I was able to literally breath, I was able to unclog my mind and just think freely under the night sky with stars shining ever so brightly and the moon was nowhere to be found.

Upon focusing my gaze on the stars, I remembered an article I read on Medium titled "Little Star" by CDTPPW published in Move Me Poetry.

The image of the stars brought back lines from the poem and it got me thinking about the kind of threat asteroids or brilliant gas posed if they were actually closer to the planet, but thank God for the sky, it only makes them appear as twinkle stars whereas they are much more frightening and can actually destroy our planet.

This realization made me think about my relationships with certain friends or people I know or have known in the past. One of them really stood out to me.
A friend I admired from afar, but upon getting closer to her, I realized how very toxic we were to each other as friends and I decided we were better off as friends from afar.

Certain people should be like stars in our lives. Let them twinkle so you can admire the brilliance of their glow from afar, but do not forget to keep them at arm’s length, lest you get hurt for not creating boundaries.

My Actual Realization;

After taking this walk, I realized the importance of boundaries. It helps you protect yor mental health and it allows you stabilize your emotional maturity.

Having friends is a blessing for the bible says in the book of Proverbs 17:17, "A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity." (NIV) but you have to be "sharp as a serpent and calm as a dove".

In Conclusion, I realized my peace of mind is my priority and it is very important, therefore, having a close niche of genuine friends, good counsel and an excellent community can be very rewarding to myself and to you, dear readers.

Thanks for reading, clapping and leaving a comment.
